Job Summary/Objective: We are seeking a highly skilled AS/400 Senior Developer to join our team. As an AS/400 Senior Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust applications and systems on the IBM AS/400 platform. You will lead technical initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide guidance to junior developers. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in AS/400 development, a deep understanding of AS/400 technologies, and the ability to drive innovation and excellence in application design and development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of AS/400 applications and systems.
- Collaborate with business analysts, architects, and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the development team, including mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Perform code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and performance optimization.
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of applications to identify and resolve complex defects and issues.
- Optimize application performance and scalability through tuning, refactoring, and code improvements.
- Collaborate with the team to integrate AS/400 applications with other systems and technologies.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and advancements in AS/400 development.
- Assist in system analysis and troubleshooting, providing expertise and resolutions for production issues.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in mainframe technologies, tools, and methodologies.
- Act in accordance with and be an advocate for Innovon Technologies Core Values (Respect, Transparency, Excellence, Professionalism and Social Responsibility).
- Assists in the training of other members as requested.
- Maintains understanding of relevant methodologies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience:
- Experience in AS/400 development, including expertise in languages such as RPG (Report Program Generator), CL (Control Language), and SQL (Structured Query Language).
- Strong understanding of AS/400 development tools, such as IBM Rational Developer for i(RDi) or IBM Access Client Solutions (ACS).
- Extensive knowledge of AS/400 database systems, such as DB2
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree is a must.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate with a wide variety of audiences, both business and technical.
- Active and attentive listening skills.

- Organized approach and able to work under pressure.
- Strong critical thinking, problem identification and solving ability.
- Basic SQL Query skills & analysis as it pertains to business processing and/or project implementation.
- Significant experience working in a collaborative team environment, with an insurance background.
- Understanding of software development project lifecycles.
- Desired computer skills include Project Management Software, Outlook, MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
