Job Summary/Objective:
As a Linux Administrator with expertise in AWX/Ansible Tower, your primary objective will be to manage and maintain Linux-based systems while utilizing AWX/Ansible Tower for automation and orchestration tasks. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our infrastructure by leveraging your deep understanding of Linux administration and AWX/Ansible Tower.
Responsibilities:
Linux System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers and operating systems.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
- Implement security measures and follow best practices to protect systems and data.
- Perform system upgrades and apply patches as necessary.
- Create and maintain system documentation and standard operating procedures.
- AWX/Ansible Tower Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain AWX/Ansible Tower infrastructure.
- Design and implement automation workflows and playbooks using Ansible.
- Manage inventory, variables, and job templates in AWX/Ansible Tower.
- Collaborate with development teams to automate deployment and configuration processes.
- Monitor AWX/Ansible Tower performance and troubleshoot issues.
Scripting and Automation:
- Develop and maintain shell scripts, Python scripts, or other automation tools.
- Automate repetitive tasks to improve operational efficiency.
- Integrate AWX/Ansible Tower with other systems and tools.
- System Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
- Implement monitoring solutions to track system performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Analyze system logs and performance metrics to optimize system resources.
- Perform capacity planning and recommend hardware or software upgrades as needed.
- Incident Response and Problem Resolution:
- Respond to system incidents, troubleshoot issues, and resolve problems promptly.
- Perform root cause analysis for system failures and implement corrective actions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate and implement solutions.
- Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:
- Collaborate with team members and provide technical guidance and support.
- Share knowledge and expertise through documentation and training sessions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong experience with AWX/Ansible Tower, including installation, configuration, and administration.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Solid understanding of Linux operating systems, networking, and security principles.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or KVM.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Knowledge of configuration management tools like Puppet, or Chef, is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Linux system administration, preferably in enterprise environments.
- Certification in Python.
Work Environment:
- You will primarily work in an office or data center environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Occasional travel may be required to support remote locations or attend training and conferences.
